Seminar and Exhibition on Civic Education Learning Media
On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, at the ISDB Room, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Yogyakarta State University, a Seminar and Exhibition on Civic Education Learning Media was held with the theme ‘Creating Quality, Smart, and Classy Learning Media’.
This event was organised as an effort to enhance the quality of Civic Education (PPKN) learning through innovation and the utilisation of effective and relevant educational media that align with contemporary developments.
Introducing various types of innovative and creative civic education learning media, both digital and physical. Enhancing participants' understanding of the importance of high-quality, intelligent, and classy learning media. Encouraging teachers and students to innovate in creating interesting, effective, and efficient learning media. Discussing trends, advantages, and disadvantages of various learning media to optimise the teaching and learning process.
This event was attended by: Civic Education teachers from DI Yogyakarta and surrounding areas. Undergraduate students majoring in Civic Education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Yogyakarta. Postgraduate students majoring in Civic Education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Yogyakarta.
Prof. Mukhamd Murdiono. In his speech, he emphasised an important philosophy in the development of learning media. He stated, ‘Good learning media is learning media that can be used effectively and does not cause difficulties for teachers or students.’ This speech became the basis for the entire series of activities.
A talk show and educational media exhibition featuring expert speakers Dr Budi Mulyono and Johan Dwi Saputro, M.Pd. The talk show discussion focused on:

Trends in the Use of Learning Media: An in-depth discussion of the latest trends in the use of learning media to create a more engaging learning environment and improve student achievement.

Analysis of Learning Media: A comprehensive explanation of the weaknesses and shortcomings of each type of media, both digital (applications, websites, etc.) and physical teaching aids, to provide participants with a holistic understanding.

Learning Media Exhibition Demonstration: The learning media exhibition demonstration session showcased innovations from each group of participants, namely:

UNY PPKN S1 Group Class A: Demonstrating interactive learning media in the form of a snakes and ladders game. Each number on the snakes and ladders board reached by throwing the dice will trigger questions related to PPKN material, where the correct answers will earn points for the players.
UNY PPKN S1 Group Class B: Demonstrating innovations in online learning media based on Google Sites. This media highlights the potential of free platforms in creating online learning resources that are easily accessible and developed.
UNY Civic Education Master's Program Group: Promoting web-based learning media entitled sahabatpancasila.com. This media is designed with the theme of Archipelagic Insight and is a highly complex learning platform, covering:

Teaching Module: Presented in an interactive flipbook format.

Presentation Materials: In the form of downloadable PowerPoint presentations.

Learning Support Journal: A collection of articles and scientific references related to the material.

Activity Evaluation: Available in each chapter of the learning material to measure student understanding. This media is a comprehensive learning suite designed for a full semester learning plan, intended for lecturers teaching Pancasila Education courses and also as a self-study resource for students to deepen their knowledge.
The Civic Education Learning Media Seminar and Exhibition was a success and contributed significantly to enriching participants' knowledge and skills in developing learning media. The enthusiasm of the participants in attending the talk show and media demonstrations showed a high level of interest in learning innovation. It is hoped that this event will trigger teachers and students to continue to be creative in creating high-quality, intelligent, and classy learning media for the improvement of PPKN education in Indonesia.
