Introducing FISHIPOL Postgraduate Students to Campus Life with Talk Shows and Focus Group Discussions
Primary tabs

On Friday, 8 September 2023, KMP FISHIPOL UNY held a Talk Show and Forum Group Discussion. This event was part of a series of Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) organised by the Faculty of Social, Law and Political Sciences (FISHIPOL). Not only the organising committee, but the forum also involved lecturers as organisers to welcome the 2023/2024 postgraduate students to FISHIPOL and provide academic orientation. The event was held in the format of a Talk Show and Forum Group Discussion (FGD).
The event was held in a hybrid format in the FISHIPOL B Building Hall and Zoom meeting room and was attended by the Dean, the Head of the Study Programme, and more than 120 new Master's and Doctoral students. Throughout the event, students were very enthusiastic and actively participated in discussions and question-and-answer sessions, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. ‘I hope that all students will continue to be enthusiastic in developing themselves so that they can publish quality scientific papers and graduate faster,’ said Prof. Dr. Suhadi Purwantara, M.Si (Dean of FISHIPOL UNY).
This talk show and focus group discussion aim to provide new students with a more in-depth and interactive introduction to the campus. This direct interaction provides a platform for sharing experiences, providing academic guidance, and responding to questions from new students. In addition, this activity aims to provide an orientation to lectures to ensure that new students understand the dynamics and rules of lectures at FISHIPOL UNY.
The success of this activity lies not only in the effective delivery of information but also in the formation of positive relationships between new students and all elements of the campus environment. The Talk Show and FGD PKKMB FISHIPOL UNY proved that even though it was hybrid, interactions between academic members and new students could still be intimate and have a positive impact on starting their academic journey. As a result, it is hoped that a warm and open atmosphere will be created, making it easier for new students to adapt to the academic environment.
